The Volta Region is set to become the first of Ghana’s 16 regions to establish a 24-hour Economy Industrial Park, aimed at boosting job creation and industrial development.

The industrial park will be located in Adaklu, near Ho, and will serve as a business enclave to attract industries and provide employment opportunities, particularly for the country’s youth.

Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, revealed this during a meeting with a delegation from the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) Volta Chapter, as well as organisers of the Volta Fair and some business executives.

He emphasised his commitment to transforming the region into an industrial hub and attracting investment to promote economic growth.

Mr. Gunu expressed strong support for the upcoming Volta Fair and Visit Volta Experience Ghana events, which aim to showcase the region’s potential and encourage tourism and investment.

He stated that collaboration with the private sector is key to achieving job creation, especially in the tourism industry, and pledged to work closely with private enterprises to develop the region.

The Regional Minister outlined his three main priorities for the Volta Region; ensuring peace and security to attract investors, strengthening the financial sustainability of the local assemblies, and fostering collaboration between the private sector, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and local governments to realise President John Maham’s vision of economic development for the region.

Also in the meeting was The Volta Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mawutor Agbavitor, himself a businessman.

He outlined the party’s commitment to driving industrialisation through the 24-hour economy and invited investors to explore viable opportunities in the region.

In response, Dela Gadzanku, Chair of AGI Volta, Eastern, and Oti, assured the Minister of the private sector’s willingness to cooperate in making the Volta Region a thriving investment destination.

Mr. Gadzanku also committed to ensuring the success of the 2025 Volta Fair and positioning the region as an attractive place for business.

He also showed samples of products from the region and said more could be done with the support of the Minister.

As part of his efforts to strengthen local industries, Mr. Gunu announced plans to visit businesses across the region to understand their operations and provide support.

He will begin with a visit to Spring Agro Industries Ltd., based in Adidome, which operates the largest rice farm and milling company in Ghana.

The Regional Minister says he aims to identify ways to assist local industries in achieving their goals, further contributing to the region’s industrial and economic growth.
