Accompanied by the Chief Director of the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC), Mr. Augustus Awity, and his technical team, the Minister outlined his core mandate, which centres on fostering peace and stability, building institutional capacity, and collaborating with Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to achieve the developmental vision of the President, John Mahama.

A major highlight of the tour was the inspection of three designated sites for the construction of a new Aflao market, a project aimed at boosting local commerce and easing the burden on traders who often cross into Lomé for goods.

The Minister assured stakeholders that the government remains committed to delivering on its promises, noting that the sea defence project and other infrastructure initiatives are already underway.

During courtesy calls on key traditional leaders, including Togbi Adzongaga Amenya Fiti V, Paramount Chief of Aflao, Torgbiga Adama III of Some Traditional Area, and Torgbi Addo VIII of Klikor, Mr. Gunu discussed development priorities and reiterated the central role of chieftaincy in governance.

The Minister also visited Diamond Cement Ghana Ltd, where management revealed that the company was operating at only 20% capacity due to infrastructure constraints.

In response, Mr Gunu pledged that under the government’s “Big Push” agenda, the company will be prioritised and roads such as the Ho–Aflao corridor will be given attention to unlock industrial potential.

He encouraged industries to strategically position themselves for the proposed 24-hour economy, which promises incentives for aligned businesses.
