The Volta Regional Parliamentary Candidates Caucus of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed its admiration and support for Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh following his nomination as Vice Presidential Candidate alongside Alhaji Dr. Bawumia Mahamudu for the upcoming general elections.
In a press statement signed by the Parliamentary Candidate for North Dayi and the Dean of NPP Parliamentary Candidates in the Region, the Caucus lauded Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s leadership qualities and track record. They highlighted his tenure as Minister of Education, during which time he played a pivotal role in implementing the Free Senior High Policy, which resulted in increased student enrollment in secondary institutions nationwide.
The statement also commended Dr Opoku Prempeh’s tenure as Minister of Energy, noting his efforts in preventing recurrent power outages, commonly known as “dumsor,” which plagued the country during previous administrations.
“Your steadfast commitment to ensuring uninterrupted power supply has safeguarded businesses and bolstered economic activity,” the Caucus affirmed.
According to the Caucus, Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s nomination resonates deeply within the party’s ranks in the Volta Region. It is poised to enhance the NPP’s prospects in breaking the “8-year cycle” and advancing the nation’s developmental agenda.
