The Volta Regional Communication Team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has welcomed the 2025 Mid-Year Budget presented by the Finance Minister, Dr Ato Forson, on Thursday, July 24.
In a press statement issued following the budget presentation and signed by the party’s regional Communications Officer, Kafui Agbleze, he described the budget as a clear signal of the government’s commitment to revitalising the Volta region’s infrastructure and economy.
“The region is already witnessing significant steps toward infrastructural transformation and economic revitalization. We are particularly delighted by the President’s unwavering commitment to key road infrastructure projects critical to regional development.”
The NDC lauded the President’s focus on some road projects in the region: “The commencement of work on the Ho–Kpetoe, Kpetoe–Afiadenyigba, Afiadenyigba–Penyi, and Penyi–Aflao roads is a major step in connecting Northern and Southern Volta.”
“These roads form the backbone of the region’s transportation network and are expected to greatly enhance trade, movement, and overall economic activity,” he added.
The party also commended the Mahama-led government for delivering on its manifesto pledge to prioritise coastal resilience, as evidenced by the ongoing coastal defence works.
Mr Agbleze noted, “In line with the President’s manifesto promise, we are also pleased to note that major work has begun on the coastal defense project, aimed at strengthening the resilience of coastal communities in the region. This proactive measure comes at a critical time as climate and environmental issues continue to threaten our coastline.”
The party also celebrated the government’s approval and allocation of $30 million for the construction of Aflao Market, saying, “Another significant development is the approval and allocation of $30 million for the construction of the Aflao Modern Market. This long-awaited project is a testament to the Mahama administration’s commitment to inclusive development and modernization of trade infrastructure.”
“The Volta Region remains thankful to H.E. John Mahama for his dedication and thoughtfulness. We look forward to a new era of accelerated development, stronger infrastructure, and improved livelihoods across the region as his government continues to deliver on its promises,” Mr Agbleze emphasised.
