JUNIOR SPELLER 6

In a thrilling culmination of linguistic prowess, Kwabena Frimpong Manso from Vine Christian School secured the top spot in the 2023 Junior Speller Competition for Basic1-4.

The event, which started with over 3000 spellers from various schools, saw 85 finalists vying for the coveted position.

At the final round, tension filled the air as Kojo Ocran of Unique Educational Complex stumbled over the word “Grief-stricken,” and Edison Awini, also from Vine Christian School, faltered with “Polysyllabic.”

In a triumphant moment, Kwabena Frimpong Manso clinched victory by correctly spelling “Hatemonger” and sealing the championship with the challenging word “uncharacteristically.”

Kwabena Frimpong Manso’s exceptional spelling skills earned him not only the prestigious title but also a substantial reward – a GHS5,000.00 cash prize and products worth GHS5,000.00. Kojo Ocran secured the second position, receiving GHC3,000 and valuable products, while Edison Awini claimed the third spot with GHC2,000 and sponsored products.

The Born Heroes Foundation, true to its mission of recognizing excellence, awarded a citation to past winner Yaa Benewaa Mensah. Ms. Kisiwa Tsiagbe, Marketing Manager of HDPlus, presented the honour during the ceremony.

Star Performer and Young Prodigy:

Juanita Ama Boye, a remarkable six-year-old speller who joined the Junior Speller at the tender age of 5, was recognized as the star performer for Basics 1-4. Her outstanding achievements earned her a citation and a decoder with a one-year subscription from HDPlus.

The success of the event was made possible through the generous support of sponsors. Flora Tissues, Top Choco, Dano Milk, HDPlus, BiGoo Drinks, Breakfast Cereal, Alpha Cracker, and Daisy Event Hub contributed products not only to the winners but to all participants, enhancing the overall experience for everyone involved.

The organizers express their heartfelt appreciation to the sponsors for their commitment to education and community development.

As Kwabena Frimpong Manso celebrated his victory, the audience erupted in cheers and applause. A standing ovation from the high table underscored the significance of the achievement. However, the event was not without its emotional moments, as those who did not make it to the top shed tears of disappointment.
