Vice President Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, is currently in the United States where she is participating in the 2025 Norman E. Borlaug International Dialogue, hosted by the World Food Prize Foundation in Des Moines, Iowa.
The high-level global forum brings together policymakers, scientists, agribusiness leaders, and development experts to discuss pressing challenges and opportunities in global food systems.
According to a press statement issued on Monday, October 20, this year’s theme focuses on building resilient, inclusive, and innovative approaches to agricultural transformation and food security.
As part of her official engagements, Vice President Opoku-Agyemang is scheduled to deliver a keynote address, where she will highlight Ghana’s ongoing efforts to enhance food security, promote sustainable agricultural practices, and encourage the active involvement of women and youth in agribusiness.
Her address is expected to highlight key policy interventions, investments in agricultural innovation, and Ghana’s commitment to creating equitable opportunities across the food value chain all aimed at contributing meaningfully to both national and global food security.
During her time at the forum, the Vice President will also hold bilateral meetings with development partners to strengthen cooperation in agriculture and rural development.

In addition, she will participate in a roundtable discussion on innovation and agricultural transformation, engaging with global leaders and experts on emerging technologies and best practices that can drive inclusive agricultural growth in Africa.
Her participation in the event underscores Ghana’s active role on the international stage, advocating for collaborative action to address hunger, climate resilience, and sustainable food production.
The statement noted that Professor Opoku-Agyemang’s presence at the Borlaug Dialogue signals Ghana’s dedication to being part of the global conversation on agriculture and food systems especially at a time when climate change, supply chain disruptions, and demographic shifts pose serious challenges to food security worldwide.
