A Ghanaian based in the United States, Mrs Vera Couch, has marked her birthday with an act of generosity, donating food items worth thousands of Ghana cedis to the Enough Grace Orphanage Home at Awoshie in the Greater Accra Region.
The donation, carried out in collaboration with the Opokua Ahwenee Foundation, forms part of efforts to support vulnerable children and improve their living conditions.

Items presented to the orphanage included bags of rice, boxes of cooking oil, sardines and mackerel, cartons of bottled water, as well as assorted toiletries.
Addressing the gathering, Founder of the Opokua Ahwenee Foundation, Ms. Opokua Patience, emphasised the importance of showing love and support to children in orphanages, noting that such gestures go a long way to give them hope and a sense of belonging.

She reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to reaching deprived communities with essential support, particularly in the areas of healthcare and education.

Founder of the Enough Grace Orphanage, Ohemaa Sabrina Mariam, expressed appreciation to Mrs. Vera Couch and the Opokua Ahwenee Foundation for their support.

She also appealed to the public and well-meaning individuals to support the home with donations to help cater for the children, describing the intervention as a major boost to their welfare.

The Foundation’s work in humanitarian support extends beyond orphanages. In a previous intervention, it donated essential medical supplies and equipment to the Akwasiho Health Center to improve healthcare delivery in the community.

The initiative underscores the growing role of Ghanaians in the diaspora in driving humanitarian efforts and supporting vulnerable groups back home.
