Veep reaffirms gov't's goal of building a self-sustaining industrial sector

Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has reaffirmed the Government’s goal of building a strong, competitive, and self-sustaining industrial sector.

A statement issued by the Office of the Vice President, said she gave the reaffirmation in her remarks at the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) Awards Night.

Vice-President Prof. Opoku-Agyemang noted that businesses that were celebrated deserved their highest commendation, stating that they reflected the innovation and resilience that must drive Ghana’s next phase of growth.

She said under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, the government aimed at unlocking the full potential of Ghana’s industrialisation agenda.

She stated that policies such as the 24-Hour Economy were designed to incentivise industries to operate in shifts around the clock, thus strengthening productivity, improving competitiveness, and expanding job creation.

The Vice President said likewise, the Feed Ghana Programme was boosting agricultural output to support food security and provide the raw materials needed for local processing.

“We urge our industries to take full advantage of these initiatives, especially as Government prioritises value addition. We are creating an environment that opens new opportunities, decentralises operations, and expands capacity for sustainable growth,”she said.

She said the government was fully aware of the challenges confronting industry, and it was the reason why easing these constraints remained central to its broader industrial strategy.

She gave an assurance that Government stands ready to collaborate with industries to build a resilient and competitive industrial base for Ghana.

The Vice President congratulated all the award winners and acknowledged all other businesses that were making quiet but steady daily progress, saying they were helping to build a nation anchored on industrial strength and that their work mattered so much and Ghana was counting on them for her development.
