USOPS goes digital with new website launch

The University staff occupational pensions schemes, USOPS, has officially launched its newly designed website, ushering in a new era of digital accessibility and innovation for its stakeholders. The unveiling, held at the Vice Chancellors’ Ghana auditorium here in Accra, showcased the platform’s modern design, improved navigation, and user-friendly features tailored to meet the diverse needs of its audience.

According to the Chairman of the Board, Dr Andrew D. Agblobi, the new website reflects USOPS’ mission to provide transparent, reliable, and easily accessible information to the public. “This platform is more than just a digital presence-it is a hub for engagement, knowledge sharing, and collaboration,” he noted during the launch.

The upgraded website features streamlined menus, mobile-friendly access, and interactive tools designed to enhance user experience. Visitors can now explore updated content, access real-time updates, and connect with USOPS across multiple platforms.

However, beyond aesthetics, the redesign emphasises functionality and inclusivity. With built-in accessibility features, the platform ensures that all users, including persons with disabilities, can engage with USOPS’ services seamlessly. This aligns with USOPS’ broader vision of promoting inclusivity and stakeholder-centred communication.

The launch was attended by various public universities across the country, who commended the initiative as a timely step in strengthening digital engagement. Moving forward, USOPS plans to continuously update the site with fresh content, multimedia resources, and interactive opportunities for dialogue.

With this milestone, USOPS reaffirms its dedication to harnessing technology for growth, transparency, and service delivery. Stakeholders are encouraged to explore the platform at usopsghana.com and share feedback to support ongoing improvement.

About USOPS

The Vice Chancellors’ Ghana (VCG), the plan sponsor, established the Universities Staff Occupational Pension Scheme (USOPS) in 2016. The USOPS scheme is a second-tier pension scheme registered and regulated by the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA) under the Pensions Act, 2008 (ACT 766), as amended.

The Scheme is managed by the Board of Trustees, which consists of seventeen (17) members, of which ten (10) are representatives of various Unions and Associations in the public Universities, five (5) are representatives of the VCG and an Independent Trustee.

USOPS’s membership is drawn from the workforces of all the public universities in the country, as it receives and invests the 5% basic salary monthly contributions remitted on behalf of the workers and pays out benefits to members upon retirement.

The objectives of USOPS include receiving and recording members’ contributions appropriately, judiciously investing the funds of the scheme, offering adequate contribution data to members, and paying out retirement benefits to members and their beneficiaries promptly.
