In an inspiring act of gratitude and community service, an Assistant Professor at the University of Bradford in the United Kingdom, Dr. Joseph Kwadwo Danquah, has donated 30 brand-new laptops to All Saints Academy, his former school, located in the Wassa Amenfi Municipal Assembly of Ghana’s Western Region.
The donation marks a heartfelt homecoming for Dr. Danquah, who attended All Saints Academy for his basic and junior secondary education before continuing to secondary school and eventually building an academic career that has taken him to international heights.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Danquah expressed deep appreciation to his former teachers and community for laying the foundation of his educational journey. He said the gesture was a way of giving back to the school that helped shape his values, discipline, and determination.
“At this stage in your life, you might be wondering what lies ahead, which path to take, and what you will become,” he told the students. “The truth is, you don’t need to have all the answers today. What matters most is your attitude, curiosity, and willingness to learn. The future belongs to those who prepare for it today, those who read, ask questions, and stay disciplined even when no one is watching.”
Dr. Danquah reminded the pupils that he once sat in the same classrooms, sharing similar dreams and challenges. His journey, he said, is proof that with faith, discipline, and hard work, success is possible no matter where one begins.
“Education is your passport to freedom. Treat your studies seriously; they open doors no one can close,” he said. “Character is your strongest asset. Be respectful, honest, and kind; these qualities attract opportunities. Dream big but start small. Every great doctor, engineer, teacher, or entrepreneur once sat in a classroom like this, dreaming just like you. Most importantly, believe in yourself. You have something special the world needs: your ideas, your energy, and your potential.”
The 30 laptops, he explained, are intended to enhance digital learning at All Saints Academy and ensure students have access to modern educational tools. He encouraged them to use technology not only for entertainment but also to solve problems within their community.
“Technology and creativity are shaping the world,” he added. “Learn how to use them to create, innovate, and make a difference.”
The Headteacher of All Saints Academy (Mr. Francis Kojo Blay) expressed deep gratitude to Dr. Danquah, describing the donation as both symbolic and transformative.
“It’s a proud moment to see one of our own return to uplift the next generation,” the Headteacher said. “These laptops will open a new chapter in our ICT education and inspire many students to aim higher.”
Teachers and pupils alike were moved by Dr. Danquah’s humility and encouragement. Many described his visit as a homecoming of hope, one that showed that true success lies in remembering where you started and helping others to rise.
