In a remarkable show of inclusivity and solidarity, the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), under the leadership of Abraham Norman Nortey, has made a generous donation to the UCC Muslim Community in honour of Ramadan.

The donation, which took place on Friday, 7th March 2025, at the Central Mosque on campus, coincided with the first Friday of the holy month.

Items presented included bags of rice, almonds, fruits, beverages, bags of water, and other essential food supplies to support Muslim students as they observe their month-long fast.

Addressing the gathering, SRC President H.E. Abraham Norman Nortey highlighted the importance of fostering an inclusive student environment where all groups feel recognised and supported.

“Ramadan is a time of reflection, sacrifice, and togetherness. As an SRC that prioritises student welfare, we are honoured to stand in solidarity with our Muslim brothers and sisters during this holy month. This donation is a token of our appreciation for their commitment to faith and community,” he stated.

His words resonated deeply with the audience, emphasising the SRC’s commitment to a campus culture that embraces diversity and promotes interfaith harmony.

Receiving the items on behalf of the UCC Muslim Community, Mr. Kudus, President of the Ghana Muslim Students Association (GMSA) – UCC, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Norman-led SRC for the thoughtful gesture.

“On behalf of the UCC Muslim community, we sincerely appreciate this generous donation. It is encouraging to see leadership that values inclusivity and student welfare. This act of kindness reaffirms our belief that the SRC is truly working in the interest of all students,” Mr. Kudus said.

Senior lecturers who attended the event also commended the SRC for its proactive leadership, emphasising the significance of such acts in fostering campus unity and engagement.

This donation is the latest in a series of student-centred initiatives by the Norman-led SRC, reflecting its unwavering commitment to student welfare. By recognising and addressing the needs of diverse groups on campus, the SRC continues to strengthen its legacy as a leadership body that serves with purpose and compassion.
