For most women, the thought of marriage and starting a family is an exciting prospect. The dream of a perfect wedding, a loving husband, and beautiful children fill their thoughts.

Akua’s dream was no different, and in 2004, fate smiled on her, and she met the man who would become her husband.

Their love story started on a sunny day at Maxima Junction in Kumasi when a fine young gentleman in a private car offered her and her friend a ride. They got acquainted, and after they alighted, they agreed to keep in touch.

Five years later, in 2009, they got traditionally married and were looking forward to starting a family immediately. However, a year had gone by, and there was no conception.

As a pastor’s wife, Akua believes in the power of prayer, and she also believes that faith must be backed with action. She and her husband sought medical attention, and the doctor assured them that they were still in the early stages of their marriage and not to worry. However, the wait was taking a toll on her. She faced many moments of doubt and sadness, especially when other couples talked about their babies.

But Akua did not give up; she remained steadfast in prayer and persisted in seeking medical solutions. It was not until she was transferred to Offinso that she got her first breakthrough. She met a friend who educated her on ovulation and her cycle.

Then, a family friend invited them to the church to pray, and afterward, they went to Trust Care Hospital, where the doctor did a particular test that was never done before, and it showed that she had a high level of prolactin. She was given some medications, and her countenance changed.

Like Hannah in the Bible, Akua’s faith grew stronger, and she began to speak her desires into existence. She bought a baby’s cot and spoke to her imaginary son every morning and evening and blew him kisses. She persisted in her faith and prayer for one year, even when it did not make sense.

And in 2013, to God be the glory, she had her first son, followed by another two years later, and finally, her baby girl in 2019. Her manifestation came just as she had discussed with God.

Akua’s story is one of faith, persistence, and the power of prayer.

She encourages other women not to give up on God, for He is faithful to His promises. The journey to motherhood may be challenging, but with faith, prayer, and action, it is possible to overcome every obstacle.

As we celebrate Mother’s Day, let us remember the women who are still waiting for their breakthrough. Let us pray for them and encourage them to keep the faith. For indeed, with God, all things are possible.
