Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia

The Campaign Manager for former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Frederick Opare-Ansah, has expressed unwavering confidence in his candidate’s chances of winning the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary, stating, “There is no way Dr. Bawumia will not win this presidential primary. It will never happen.”

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show on Wednesday, 7th January, 2026, Mr Opare-Ansah dismissed any suggestion that the contest would be closely contested, claiming that the situation has now become much clearer for the Bawumia campaign.

“There are things that won’t happen, and they won’t happen. We don’t even need to speculate on them,” Mr Opare-Ansah said.

According to the campaign manager, his team’s recent engagements with delegates and their growing support leave no doubt in his mind about the outcome of the primary.

Mr Opare-Ansah’s confidence stems from his direct engagement with party delegates across the country.

Reflecting on the challenges of 2023, he noted that during that period, there was still some uncertainty around Dr. Bawumia’s position within the party, largely due to his status as an “establishment candidate”.

This, he said, had created an environment where it was difficult to gauge the true sentiments of delegates.

However, Mr Opare-Ansah believes that things have changed dramatically in recent months.

“Last year, there were places where it was difficult to get clarity, especially with the perception that Bawumia was too closely tied to the establishment. But today, it’s no longer the case. We are seeing the picture more clearly; we are seeing our way more clearly,” he explained.

Mr Opare-Ansah also dismissed claims from rival campaigns that financial influence would play a significant role in the election outcome.

“We are not claiming to have enough money; we don’t have money. Those who have money are there; the other candidates who claim to have money are there. They are the ones the delegates are waiting upon to give them money,” he said.

For Mr Opare-Ansah, the key question now is not whether Bawumia can win, but rather, “Why should we change Bawumia?”

The campaign manager insisted that delegates are now asking themselves why they would support another candidate when Bawumia is seen as the best person to lead the party into the 2024 election.

According to Mr Opare-Ansah, by the end of Wednesday, Bawumia’s campaign will have covered 14 regions. Everywhere they have gone, he claims, the message has been consistent: “No change.”

“By the close of today, we will have traversed 14 regions, and everywhere we go, the people start shouting, ‘No change,’” Opare-Ansah proudly declared.

He suggested that certain rival campaigns may be relying on their financial resources to sway delegates, but he asserted that Bawumia’s campaign is built on more than just money. Instead, it is rooted in a clear vision for the country and the future of the NPP.

“There is no way Dr. Bawumia will not win this election. It will never happen,” he concluded.
