Tension is mounting in Kwahu, Eastern Region, following the disappearance of the queen mother, Nana Adwoa Gyamfua III.
The Paramount Chief of the Kwahu traditional area, Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III, confirmed the development on Adom FM’s morning news on Monday, November 17.
According to him, heavily armed police personnel stormed the palace at Abene, where the queen mother resides, amid indiscriminate gunfire around 4:30 a.m. on Monday, November 17, 2025.
Although the exact motive for the raid remains unclear, the chief revealed that several individuals were taken into custody. It was only after their removal that the queen mother’s absence was noticed, raising suspicions of a possible abduction.
“The people were arrested into vehicles and taken to an unknown location. I called the Kwahu Police Commander to ask what was happening and whether he sanctioned the operation, but he told me he doesn’t know the people nor is aware of any operation,” he narrated.
Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III added that the information he has gathered suggests that his predecessor, Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II, who was destooled in 2024 after a seven-year reign, led the raid.
Meanwhile, the police are yet to officially comment on the incident, and the queen mother’s whereabouts remain unknown.
