Suspected robbers gunned down a policeman who was escorting a bullion van and an onlooker in an attempted robbery incident in Ghana’s capital of Accra Monday said a source with the police.
Confirming the incident to Xinhua, Sheilla Kessie Abayie-Buckman, the spokesperson for Ghana Police, said the case was under investigation to gather details.

The driver of the van also sustained severe bullet wounds as the robbery suspects trailed the bullion van with a taxi cab and motorbike to a less busy spot before firing into it, killing the policeman instantly, the spokesperson said.

The injured driver has been sent to a nearby hospital for treatment.
