Successive governments have made efforts to implement social protection programs for equity among the citizenry, especially in areas of education, healthcare and socio-economic empowerment.

But the private sector cannot be overlooked in meeting the global standards in social interventions.

Non-Governmental Organisations involved in social protection often offer assistance and advocacy for vulnerable persons through cash transfers, food distribution, and educational support, among others.

Kofi Job Foundation, founded by local contractor, Kofi Job and Dr. Esther Gyebi, has set out to help transform lives and improve the well-being of many persons within society.

Since its inception, the Foundation has made huge investments in the healthcare sector of the Ashanti Region.

The Kofi Job Foundation has invested over five million cedis in the purchase of healthcare equipment for public hospitals and payment of medical bills for defaulters.

In 2024, over three million cedis was spent on healthcare bills and medical equipment for five major hospitals in the Ashanti Region, including the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Suntreso Government Hospital, Kumasi South Hospital, Tafo Government Hospital and the Manhyia District Hospital.

Part of the funds was invested in the purchase of essential equipment such as incubators, Sepap machines, and firefly machines, which were previously lacking in some facilities.

The Manhyia District Hospital was supplied with an incubator which they previously lacked. Presently, the facility is able to offer critical care to mothers and preterm babies, reducing child mortality.

Similarly, the Suntreso Government Hospital’s mother and baby unit has received ten brand-new Sepap machines, which support the breathing process of preterm babies.

In addition to their institutional donations, the Kofi Job Foundation has settled medical bills of over 1,000 patients in the last six months, bringing relief to both the patients and the hospitals.

In January 2025, the Foundation spent over 120,000 cedis on two children diagnosed of retinoblastoma, commonly called cancer of the eye, and wilms tumor kidney.

The amount paid to the Kumasi South Hospital covered treatment with chemotherapy and a surgery.

Impact in Education

In the education sector, the Foundation has offered scholarships to dozens of needy students across the country.

Some vulnerable students have received support from the Foundation.

Earlier this year, a home science student of the Presbyterian Technical School in the Ashanti Region, Maybel Acheampong received 20,000 cedis for her practical education.

The Foundation has also granted her full scholarship to the tertiary level.

Food and cash transfer to the vulnerable

The Kofi Job Foundation has also made a significant impact in food and cash supply to the vulnerable in the society.

In December 2024, over one thousand widows and needy persons were supported with foodstuff and cash for the Christmas festivities.

An amount of 600,000 cedis was spent on the donation.

The Foundation which is still in its formative years intends to sustain the food and cash support in the festive periods.

Founders of the Foundation, Kofi Job and Dr. Esther Gyebi, intend to increase the investments in social protection for the nation’s development.

Conclusion

Founder of the foundation Kofi Job and Dr. Esther Gyebi intend to increase the investments made in social protection for the nation’s development.

The founders continue to call on other well-meaning Ghanaians to follow in their footsteps towards providing equity for all persons in society.
