Startrite Montessori & Christian College (Startrite Schools) marks 18th graduation and awards ceremony with a call against screen addiction

Startrite Schools crowned the 2024/2025 academic year with a vibrant 18th Graduation and Awards ceremony, presenting 70 proud graduates with a renewed call for parental responsibility and learner wellbeing.

The event was held on Saturday, July 19th, at the school’s serene New Bortianor campus near West Hills Mall. The event brought together educationists, parents, and key personalities from academia and health.
Under the theme “Screen Addiction: Signs, Effects and Reversal,” the ceremony aimed not only to celebrate academic success but to draw national attention to a growing public health concern —excessive screen time among children and teenagers.

Delivering the keynote address, Mrs. Lilian Annan, a seasoned Nursing and Risk Management Consultant and Director of Nursing Services at The Trust Hospital, shed light on the psychological, emotional, and physical effects of screen addiction on children.

She pointed to practical, evidence-based strategies for reversing its impact, urging parents and educators to take early intervention seriously.

She warned that unchecked screen exposure is not just a habit but a health risk and asked parents, guardians, and trainers to join hands and consciously equip children with life skills beyond the screen.
