CEO of Image Bureau, journalist and actor George Quaye, has said that Gospel musician Sonnie Badu’s injury was no P.R. gimmick to get music lovers to attend his concert Rhythmz of Africa over the weekend.

In an interview with Doreen Avio on Hitz News, he described the rumour surrounding the gospel artiste’s injury as ridiculous and expected of Ghanaians.

“I can tell you for sure it wasn’t a P.R. gimmick, and I knew Ghanaians would react in that way.”

He also added that he advised Sonnie Badu and his team not to put out any information concerning his injury.

“So even when it came out, we had a conversation and I thought that it shouldn’t be made public because Ghanaians will not believe it anyway.”

George Quaye also revealed that people had to be turned away because the event centre had reached its limit.

D’Angelo, Grammy Award-winning R&B singer, dead at 51

“I mean on event day, we had to turn people away, I was yelling that the auditorium was full so people should go home.”

Sonnie Badu, who was involved in a domestic accident on the 1st of December and had to undergo a surgery, assured his fans that he will still make it for his event Rhythmz of Africa.

“Beloved, I wish to announce that I was involved in a domestic accident yesterday and had to undergo major surgery.

By the grace of God, I am doing well and recuperating.

I want to wholeheartedly apologize to the Churches and media houses that expected my presence on the last day and were disappointed.

In the name of Jesus, I want to assure the good people of Ghana and everywhere else that ‘Sonnie Badu Live in Concert – Rhythms of Africa’ will still come off on Saturday, Dec 9, 2023.

Grab your tickets and come witness the glory and presence of God.

“The devil tried it, but we only won.“
