“Some men behave like goats; they cheat because of constant sexual urges” – Rev Annan on 'Let’s Talk'

Reverend Daniel Annan has stirred debate with his remarks on male infidelity, claiming that some men cheat because of overwhelming sexual urges and behave “like goats.”

Speaking on Joy Prime’s Let’s Talk with Aseiduwaa, he was reacting to a woman’s confession that she had entered a romantic relationship with her husband’s mistress after discovering her husband’s affair. What began as an act of revenge, she said, later developed into genuine affection, leaving her emotionally conflicted.

Rev Annan said some men exploit moments when their wives are unavailable, such as after childbirth, to seek sex elsewhere. “They like sex so much that when their wives go and deliver their babies, they use that opportunity to have sex elsewhere because naturally, they are goats,” he said.

He added that lack of care and attention at home can also push men to cheat. “Some women don’t understand why their husbands prefer their house helps to them; it’s because the house helps care for the husbands and their children in place of the wives,” he explained, stressing that men often respond emotionally and physically to acts of care.

The Reverend also identified retaliation as a motive, saying some men sleep with their partners’ friends or acquaintances to restore their pride when they feel betrayed. In his view, such behaviour is about proving a point rather than love.

Power, money and peer influence were also highlighted as risk factors. Rev Annan argued that financially successful or influential men often feel entitled to cheat unless guided by “the Christ element.” He also said men learn infidelity from friends or family environments where cheating is normalised.

On physical attraction, he noted that some husbands stray when their wives stop making effort with their appearance. “If your game plan is not on, your husband will cheat on you,” he warned, adding that many men link their self-worth to sexual performance.

He also pointed to the appeal of younger women, often seen as more caring, attractive, and adventurous. Still, he stressed that beyond looks, most men desire respect and emotional support. “Most men are not just looking for a gorgeous woman but a woman with a beautiful heart who can honour and respect them and make them feel good. Every man wants to be treated like a king by his wife in the home,” he said.

In addressing the woman’s case, Rev Annan advised her to end the relationship with her husband’s mistress and work on her marriage, urging open communication and professional counselling.

Let’s Talk with Aseiduwaa is a relationship-centred talk show where real-life confessions and dilemmas are discussed. It airs every Tuesday at 9pm on Joy Prime.
