SLTF disburses over GH₵ 67m for teacher trainee allowances

The Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) has confirmed receipt of GH₵ 67,671,080 from the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission, earmarked for the non-feeding component of teacher trainee allowances covering five months. The funds are intended for students enrolled in 47 public Colleges of Education across the country.

According to Saajida Shiraz, Director of SLTF, the final tranche of the amount was received on 29 July 2025. Consequently, on August 1, 2025, allowances for five months were disbursed to 30,157 students from 37 Colleges of Education, based on the available data at the time.

SLTF has assured stakeholders that additional disbursements will be made as more student data is received from the remaining colleges and cleared through pre-audit processes. The institution reaffirmed its commitment to operational transparency, urging patience as processes are finalised to ensure all eligible students receive their due government support.

In a related update, SLTF noted that efforts are ongoing regarding the No-Fees-Stress reimbursements, with the deadline extension aimed at ensuring that all eligible students are properly registered for reimbursements.
