The Student Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) has rolled out a nationwide sensitisation and registration drive aimed at supporting first-year university students to benefit from the government’s flagship No-Fees-Stress Policy.

The campaign, launched at the Great Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), drew over 1,800 fresh students from across the Ashanti Region, many of whom received hands-on support to navigate the SLTF portal and register for loans.

Chief Executive Officer of SLTF, Dr Saajida Shiraz, shared details of the initiative in a Facebook post, reaffirming the Fund’s commitment to putting students at the centre of its operations.

“We are resetting SLTF into a student-centric institution committed to servicing the financial needs of tertiary students,” Dr Shiraz stated.

“At KNUST, we answered questions on the No-Fees-Stress policy and helped students overcome registration challenges.”

The No-Fees-Stress Policy, introduced by the NDC government, allows newly admitted students to register for university without the immediate payment of fees. Through the SLTF, qualifying students can access funding to cover academic costs and stay enrolled.

The campaign will cover major university campuses nationwide, offering on-site assistance, answering frequently asked questions, and supporting students through their loan application processes.

“The No-Fees-Stress policy is not just a campaign promise—it’s a tangible intervention designed to ease the financial pressure on students and their families,” she said.

The sensitisation and registration drive is a key step in expanding access to tertiary education and aligns with the government’s broader goal of promoting inclusive and equitable education for all.
