Fante songwriter and singer, Kofi Kinaata has declared that it will be over his dead body that he sings in the English language.

Kofi Kinaata in an interview on Okay FM with Abeiku Santana, revealed that he didn’t see the reason why he should sing in English when Michael Jackson never sang in Fante.

“Why should I bother myself singing in a language that is not mine? Did Michael Jackson ever sing in Fante? Over my dead body will I sing in English,” Kofi Kinaata stated.

Abeiku Santa wondered if it’s because Kofi Kinaata couldn’t express himself well in the English language.

English Language has become lingua franca in most countries.

The “Susuka” hitmaker sings in Fante language; not him alone, a lot of musicians have chosen not to bother themselves in singing in a foreign language of a different country.

Kofi insisted he would never put the language he speaks aside and replace it with someone’s language.
