In a show of compassion and community solidarity during the holy month of Ramadan, Platinum Impex Limited, distributors of Sigma Appliances, has distributed food items to hundreds of Muslim families across key communities in Accra, bringing relief and smiles to many households observing the fast.
The humanitarian gesture, which took place at the Mamobi Mosque and Madina Mosque, saw warm meals distributed to community members during the evening Iftar, the meal Muslims take to break their fast at sunset.
Marketing Manager of Sigma Appliances, Marie D. Sam, highlighted that the initiative was inspired by the company’s commitment to compassion and shared humanity during significant cultural and religious moments.
“Ramadan is a season of profound reflection and, most importantly, compassion,” she said. “We at Platinum Impex, the distributors of Sigma Appliances, believe that success is hollow if it isn’t shared. Our motivation was simple, to stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters and ensure that the spirit of togetherness is felt at every Iftar table.”

The food distribution formed part of the company’s outreach to communities that play a significant role in the social and cultural fabric of the capital.
“These communities are the heartbeat of the city. Many Ghanaians call these places home. We didn’t want to just give from a distance; we wanted to be right here on the ground where we can be close to the people who give meaning to what Sigma Appliances represents which is reliability and share this moment with them.”
She added that the gesture is not an isolated initiative but part of the company’s broader commitment to corporate social responsibility.
“This isn’t a one-off event. We view social responsibility as a pillar of our business operations. Whether it’s through education and skill development, or seasonal support like this, Platinum Impex and Sigma Appliances are committed to being the neighbour of choice, not just a company,” she said.
“Faith and culture are what bind us together. Supporting our community during Ramadan, or any significant religious period, allows us to celebrate the diversity that makes us strong. It’s about honoring the values of sacrifice and generosity that Ramadan teaches all of us,” she added.
The distributed items included warm meals carefully prepared to ensure families could break their fast with comfort and dignity.
While exact numbers were not the focus, Marie indicated that the outreach reached a significant number of families. “Today, we are humbled to have reached hundreds of households. Our goal was to ensure that no one in these immediate vicinities feels overlooked during this holy month. Our focus today isn’t on the numbers, but on the families, we can support and the smiles we see.”
Community leaders who received the food items expressed gratitude for the gesture. At the Mamobi Mosque, Abdallahi Mohammed, who led members of the Muslim community to receive the items, commended the company for standing with the community during Ramadan.

“This act of kindness means a lot to our people. Ramadan teaches us generosity and compassion, and seeing a company come here to share in that spirit strengthens the bond between businesses and the community,” he said.
Similarly, at the Madina Mosque, Balah, one of the beneficiaries who received the food items, expressed appreciation on behalf of families in the area.
“We are grateful for this support. Many families are fasting and preparing for Iftar every day, and gestures like this remind us that we are not alone. May God bless the company for remembering us during Ramadan,” he said.
Marie emphasized that Sigma Appliances seeks to build long-term relationships with the communities it serves.
“We don’t want to be seen as just a ‘company’ or a ‘brand.’ We want to be seen as a partner. We hope this gesture shows that Sigma Appliances and Platinum Impex care about the well-being of the people behind the purchases. We are here for the long haul.”
She further revealed that the company plans to continue similar initiatives during other festive seasons.
“Yes, our doors and hearts remain open. We look forward to similar outreaches during other festive seasons. Our mission of giving back is a year-round commitment that will continue to grow as we do.”
She concluded with a message to the Muslim community observing the holy month.
“To our Muslim brothers and sisters: May this Ramadan bring you and your families peace, health, and abundant blessings. We admire your devotion and your spirit of charity, and we are honored to walk beside you during this holy month. Ramadan Kareem.
