A search authorised by the Ghana Education Service into the luggage of students of Senior High Schools has revealed that some students are keeping dangerous weapons and other unauthorised implements in school.

It comes after the shooting of a student by another who brandished a locally manufactured pistol in class.

Head of the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools, Rev. Father. Stephen Owusu Sekyere reveals, “across the country, we found pinch bars, pliers, big scissors, and daggers in their bags.”

“We have to thank the GES for giving us the authorisation to do this. Previously, you will do it and somebody will come and claim we have infringe on the rights of the student”, he added.

CHASS is requesting parents to take an interest in the materials their wards send to school.
