Sedina Tamakloe's US arrest vindicates work we started in office – Tuah-Yeboah

A former Deputy Attorney General, Alfred Tuah-Yeboah, has expressed satisfaction with the arrest of former MASLOC CEO Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu in the United States, saying it vindicates the extradition process his office initiated while in government.

Speaking on Newsfile on Saturday, Mr Tuah-Yeboah said he was pleased that the work commenced during his tenure had come to fruition, with Tamakloe-Attionu now in US custody awaiting extradition to Ghana.

“I sometimes definitely am excited because the work that we commence while in office has actually come to fruition,” he said.

The former deputy attorney general explained that after Tamakloe-Attionu’s conviction in April 2024, his office immediately secured a warrant for her arrest and initiated extradition proceedings.

“After her conviction, we went back to the court for a warrant for her arrest. Suffice to that, we began the extradition process, and in July 2024, everything was forwarded to the relevant authorities for the positive comment,” he disclosed.

Mr Tuah-Yeboah said he had expected the process to be completed before his office exited in January 2025, but expressed gratitude that US authorities have now arrested the convicted former MASLOC boss.

Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu is currently being held at the Nevada Southern Detention Centre in the United States, according to a statement signed by Ghana’s Ambassador to the US, Emmanuel Victor Smith, and dated Thursday, January 15, 2026.

She was sentenced in April 2024 to 10 years’ imprisonment with hard labour after being found guilty on 78 counts, including causing financial loss to the state, stealing, conspiracy to steal, money laundering, and breaches of the Public Procurement Act.

Her co-accused, former MASLOC Chief Operating Officer Daniel Axim, was also sentenced to five years’ imprisonment with hard labour.
