Miss Sedem Awuku Segbedzi-Semekor, a Level Six learner, was crowned “The Face of Lisben” in the 2025 edition held in Kasoa.
The competition, organized by Royal Lisben Montessori School’s management, aims to harness learners’ potential, expose them to Ghana’s diverse cultures and practices, and build their confidence. Additionally, it prepares learners to address environmental issues and their impact on humanity.
The sixteen participating learners were first tasked with performing cultural activities representing each of Ghana’s sixteen regions and presenting sanitation-related project work.
They showcased various cultural elements including traditional dances, warrior displays, conflict resolution in chief palaces, regional cuisine exhibitions, and other cultural presentations.
As the competition intensified, contestants diligently strived to impress the three judges, who carefully evaluated each performance and posed relevant questions. Parents and members of the public attended to support the participants.
During the final round, contestants presented various projects focusing on sanitation, healthy living, and related topics. Ultimately, Sedem Awuku Segbedzi-Semekor emerged victorious, earning the title “The Face of Lisben 2025” by achieving the highest scores from all three judges.
Her prize included two terms of free tuition. Second and third place winners Samilia Anzie Quainoo and Adepa Twumwaa Adjei received two terms of complimentary meals. Additional awards recognised the best costume and the most eloquent participant.
The judges commended Miss Sedem for her outstanding performance and encouraged her to continue advocating for environmental cleanliness while educating peers about proper sanitation practices in schools.
In an interview, Miss Sedem expressed gratitude to school management for the opportunity to participate, stating, “When I am determined to take up a challenge, I always put in my all. I know my colleagues were equally good, so I took every practice and guidance given to me by my trainer very serious.”
“My father also played a crucial role, he motivated and also provided all the costumes needed for the contest. In fact, that really played a big factor in my delivery to win the contest and I thank God that he was there for me”.
Miss Sedem added that winning the contest has given her the motivation to win this year’s edition of the national UCMAS competition after placing third in last year’s edition.
The winner of the contest will be an Ambassador for “a clean and healthy environment”.
The face of Lisben was organised by Royal Lisben Montessori School, located at Kasoa TV3 Junction.
