The Savannah Regional Minister, Salisu Be-Awuribe, has cautioned Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the region to pay close attention to President John Dramani Mahama’s directives to work diligently and deliver on the reset agenda promised to Ghanaians.

He warned that any officer who disregards the President’s directives will be sacrificing their job, adding that he is committed to ensuring the best outcomes for the Savannah Region and will not let personal relationships stand in the way.

“We have no justification whatsoever to delay in the execution of our duties. I am here in the region, ready and willing to monitor all your activities.
I know we are friends, party men, and brothers, but when it comes to our work and the President’s directives, we mince no words. We will not spare any situation to ensure that the best—and nothing but the best—comes from the Savannah Region,” the Minister cautioned.

Mr Be-Awuribe issued this warning during the handing over of office to the recently confirmed District Chief Executive for Bole, Abdulai Mahamud, in Damongo, Savannah Region.

As the last among the seven DCEs to be confirmed, the Regional Minister urged Mr Mahamud not to use this as an excuse for any delay, but to rather collaborate with stakeholders in the district to drive the needed development.

He further stated that the President has comprehensively appointed individuals to all relevant positions required to enable the region to function effectively, and as such, he would not entertain any excuse for delays in executing their mandates as MMDCEs.

He encouraged Mr Abdulai Mahamud, in particular, to move beyond his confirmation process and work closely with all stakeholders in the district to achieve results.

In his response, the DCE for Bole, Abdulai Mahamud, expressed gratitude to President Mahama for the opportunity to serve his people and promised to lead with dedication, using existing structures.

“I promise to be a servant to the good people of Bole District. I also pledge to use the existing structures to work. And so, wherever you (Be-Awuribe) see and think I’m going wrong, kindly point it out to me and bring me back into the fold,” Mr Abdulai Mahamud pleaded.
