On Friday, March 21, 2025, Sir Samuel Jonah, the Executive Chairman of Jonah Capital and prominent businessman and statesman, led his company, Mobus Property Development, in the commissioning of the Col. Ababio Serebour Block for the Ghana Armed Forces Pay Regiment Division.

The Pay Regiment’s urgent requirement for space necessitated the commissioning of the block less than ten 10 months ago. Colonel Miki Adusei Nkrumah, the Commanding Officer of the Pay Regiment, recounts how he reached out to corporate entities to help the regiment fulfill its urgent infrastructure needs in his speech.

Col Nkrumah intimated, “I want to acknowledge the benevolence of the Chairman of Jonah Capital, Sir Sam Esson Jonah and the Chief Executive Officer of Mobus Properties Ltd, Mr. Kojo Ansah for sponsoring this project and bringing the vision of Command to fruition”.

Nkrumah, while introducing the Honoree Lt Col. Serebour Ababio, after whom the block is named stated, “A transformative leader who initiated developments in the Forces Pay Regiment which eventually caught up with other units replicating same. Hitherto, the only major task of the Regiment was to pay salaries to personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces. As time went by, Financial Institutions saw the need to partner the Forces Pay Regiment to provide seamless financial services to personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces.

Therefore, in the year 2006 through the ingenuity and vision of Lt Col Ababio Serebour as the Commanding Officer of Forces Pay Office now Forces Pay Regiment, this partnership saw the birth of the Remittance Group. As fate would have it, I was the first officer to be posted to the Remittance Group as a Group Leader and I feel proud to have contributed my quota to the growth of the Remittance Group.

Today, the Remittance Group has become the beacon of light and a hub for personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces as well as the corporate world to transact business… we are here to honor our “Lt Col Ababio Serebour” and you will agree with me that it is in the right direction to name this office block to its founder in order to show gratitude for his vision and leadership. This Office building is therefore christened as the “Ababio Serebour Block”.

The Chief Executive Officer of Mobus, Kojo Ansah Mensah, in his speech, urged corporate entities to emulate Mobus’ gesture. Mr. Ansah Mensah began his speech by quoting former US President John F. Kennedy, who once advised us to ” ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.”

This timeless call to action resonates deeply with Mobus. As a company rooted in Ghana and Nigeria, we believe our success is measured not only by the buildings we erect but by the lives we uplift and the communities we strengthen.”

Mr. Ansah Mensah also said, “As we hand over these keys, I challenge every corporate leader here: Look beyond the balance sheet. Invest in projects that outlive us all. To the Forces Pay Regiment—may this space fuel your mission. When you walk through these doors, remember a nation grateful for your sacrifice.”
