Chaos continues to engulf Cameroon football as Andre Onana has been sensationally named in the nation’s 28-man AFCON squad, despite the coach who called him up being sacked last week.
Belgian manager Marc Brys, who was officially dismissed by the newly elected Fecafoot president Samuel Eto’o, insists he is still in charge and has announced his squad and preparatory programme for the tournament.
According to UK based outlet The Sun, Brys has included Onana in his list, just ahead of Thursday’s squad submission deadline.
The row stems from Brys being appointed by the Sports Ministry against the wishes of Eto’o, sparking a bitter power struggle that has already cost Cameroon a World Cup spot and now threatens their AFCON campaign.
Fecafoot, led by Eto’o, officially sacked Brys citing “subterfuge,” “professional failure,” and accusations of “inciting” players to defy the football federation.
There are further allegations of “active collaboration with unknown individuals within Fecafoot” levelled against the Belgian.
