A stage adaption of 1959 American musical, ‘The Sound of Music’, is due for production at the National Theatre on October 14, 2023.
Produced by television personality and event host Roselyn Felli, the play features Naa Ashorkor, Clemento Suarez, Perez Musik, Elvis Crystal, Alexandra Aboagye, Bryan Tachie-Menson, and Jackie Ankrah.
The original work (the musical) was composed by Richard Rodgers, with lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. The film’s screenplay was written by Ernest Lehman, adapted from the stage musical’s book by Lindsay and Crouse. Based.
It is a tuneful, heartwarming story, based on the real life story of the Von Trapp Family singers, one of the world’s best-known concert groups in the era immediately preceding World War II. Julie Andrews plays the role of Maria, the tomboyish postulant at an Austrian abbey who becomes a governess in the home of a widowed naval captain with seven children, and brings a new love of life and music into the home.
While it is unknown what Roselyn and her team bring to bear on the stage adaption, she has promised it will be unique, entertaining and relatable to the Ghanaian audience.
Roselyn, a host of Prime Morning on Joy Prime television, is a graduate of Theatre Arts from the School of Performing Arts at the University of Ghana, Legon.
According to her, art is her first calling, and putting up this production is just a way of fulfilling her quest to impact the creative industry.
