On Accra’s Akraman–Ashalaja–Amasaman route, drivers like Stephen Kumi wake up every day chasing a simple dream: to earn an honest living.
Instead, they are forced to battle deep potholes and frequent breakdowns. Kumi’s work-and-pay vehicle is slowly falling apart, and he is not alone.
Drivers and residents who ply this route say the poor road network is turning daily travel into a nightmare.
In the first episode of our feature series, “Roads of Peril,” JoyNews’ Pearl Ofori highlights the inadequate road network in some communities within the Amasaman Constituency and the challenges faced by drivers and residents when using it.
