The National Association of Retired Police Officers (NARPO-Ghana) has congratulated COP (rtd) Nathan Kofi Boakye, who is currently also serving as the Director of Operations at the Presidency, on his elevation to the Police Council.

A statement issued and signed by DCOP George Anko-BIL(Rtd), National Secretary of NARPO-Ghana, reads in part, “As the National Secretary, it is an honour to formally write on behalf of members of the Functional Executive Committee of NARPO-GH to express our heartfelt congratulations on your elevation to represent Retired Senior Officers at the National Police Council.

This prestigious appointment is a testament to your dedication, expertise, and leadership. We are proud to have you on our team, and we look forward to your valuable contributions. Let it be added that with your elevation, we at the National Association of Retired Police Officers (NARPO-GH), an embodiment of both the retired Senior and Junior Officers of the Ghana Police Service, will witness the fast-tracking of recognition of the association onto the National Constitution through the current process being undertaken by the National Constitutional Review of the 1992 Ghana Constitution”

It would be recalled that President John Dramani Mahama, on June 10, 2025, swore in the members of the Governing Council of the Ghana Police Service, in accordance with Article 201 of the 1992 Constitution, with the Vice President of Ghana, H. E. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, as the Chairperson.

The newly sworn-in members are: Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak; Minister for the Interior, Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine; Minister of Justice and Attorney General, IGP Cristian Tetteh-Yohuno, Daniel Owusu Nyampong (Esq.), COP Rtd. Nathan Kofi Boakye, DCOP Lydia Yaako Donkor, Angel Lolo (Esq.), Rose Bio Atinga, and Benson Atongo Baba.

In his statement, President Mahama emphasised the importance of the Ghana Police Council in ensuring that the Police Service remains professional, fair, transparent, and accountable to the people. He charged the Council to resolve issues related to promotions, seniority, postings, and general apprehensions that exist in the Service.
