Reopening: Single-track SHS freshers report with excitement

First-year students enrolled under the Single-Track system of Senior High Schools (SHS) and Senior High Technical Schools (SHTS) across the country reported to school on Monday, January 5, amid excitement and optimism.

At the Tsito Senior High Technical School (SHTS) in the Volta Region, students were observed arriving early on campus with their luggage, accompanied by parents and guardians who had come to ensure a smooth start to the academic year.

The atmosphere on campus was lively as students queued for verification and accommodation, exchanging greetings and expressing enthusiasm about beginning secondary education.

Janet Michiko, a parent of one of the first-year students, told the GNA that she personally brought her child to school to ensure his safe arrival and proper settlement.

She expressed confidence in the school’s management and urged her child to remain focused and disciplined.

Mr Jerry Awute, another parent, who shared similar sentiments, advised the students to “marry their books,” obey school rules, and take their studies seriously to grow into responsible citizens who would contribute meaningfully to national development.

School authorities were on hand to receive the students, guide them through the admission process, and maintain orderliness throughout the reporting process.

The first- and second-year students are expected to break from February 27 to May 3, 2026, while third-year students will break on February 28 and report back on March 14, 2026, in line with the 2025/26 Academic Calendar.
