Relief for Tema residents as GWL fixes major transmission line

Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has announced the successful completion of repair works on its 42-inch transmission main, bringing relief to customers in Tema and adjoining communities who experienced a disruption in water supply.

On Monday, January 19, 2026, GWL announced a critical transmission line that serves the eastern corridor of Accra, leading to widespread disruption in water distribution.

According to the utility provider, engineers and technical teams were immediately mobilised after the fault was detected and have since been working continuously to repair the damaged pipeline.

The company noted that the repair works were completed at 8:00 p.m. GMT on Tuesday, 20th January, 2026.

Following the completion, production and pumping to the Tema Booster Station commenced at 9:00 p.m. the same evening, marking the beginning of the gradual restoration process.
