Rapperholic Creators challenge blends digital talent and financial discipline for Ghanaian youth

Fifty young Ghanaian creatives are receiving practical training in digital storytelling, business management and financial discipline through the ongoing Rapperholic Content Creators Challenge, an initiative designed to transform creative talent into sustainable careers.

The youth-focused programme is being implemented through a partnership between FirstBank Ghana, the University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC) Institute of Film and Television, and AkunaPod.

It aims to equip participants with relevant creative skills while promoting a strong savings culture within Ghana’s fast-growing creator economy.

Branded “25 Days to Rapperholic Challenge”, the initiative combines daily digital content creation with structured financial literacy.

As part of the programme, each of the 50 selected participants has opened a FirstNest savings account with GH¢200 seed capital, locked for one year, to encourage financial discipline, delayed gratification and long-term planning.

Throughout the challenge, participants are required to create and publish daily content documenting their creative journey and savings experience.

Organisers say this approach exposes them to real production timelines, audience engagement demands and platform growth strategies that reflect the realities of today’s digital marketplace.

The programme also features two financial literacy workshops organised in partnership with FirstBank Ghana, focusing on budgeting, savings habits and long-term money management.

A structured weekly review and elimination process will lead to the selection of three finalists, who will receive professional content creation equipment, while all participants will be rewarded with complimentary tickets to the Rapperholic concert.

Speaking on the initiative, the Head of Retail Banking at FirstBank Ghana, Allen Quaye, said the challenge aligns with the bank’s broader commitment to youth empowerment and financial inclusion.

“At FirstBank, we believe creativity thrives best when supported by sound financial habits. The Rapperholic Content Creators Challenge is not just about building digital talent; it is about helping young creatives develop discipline, structure and a savings mindset that will sustain their careers beyond the spotlight.

This partnership reflects our broader commitment to empowering the next generation to turn passion into long-term value,” he said.

A key component of the programme is AkunaPod, a creative hub focused on empowering creators, innovators and changemakers.

Working closely with UniMAC Institute of Film and Television and FirstBank Ghana, AkunaPod is leading content design, coordinating daily activities and providing hands-on mentorship to help participants build consistency, accountability and strong personal brands.

Organisers say the initiative goes beyond content creation to deliberately equip young creatives with essential skills in business management, reliability, audience development and financial responsibility, positioning them for long-term success within Ghana’s expanding digital and creative economy.
