PureLube, ShaQ Express, SnooCODERED beat 1,800 applicants to join Commonwealth Startup Fellowship

Three Ghanaian startups have secured spots in the highly competitive accelerator programme to catapult their businesses under the Commonwealth Startup Fellowship (CSF).
PureLube, ShaQ Express and SnooCODERED were selected from over 1,800 applicants across 44 eligible countries and territories globally.

PureLube, founded by Fareeda Mustapha, is developing an eco-friendly, high-performance grease made from cashew shells for automotive and industrial use.

By turning agricultural waste into a valuable industrial product, the startup is positioning itself at the intersection of sustainability, manufacturing and agribusiness.

ShaQ Express, led by Anthony Owusu-Ansah, is a tech-powered green logistics company enabling last-mile delivery in Ghana using electric bikes. The startup is working to make urban deliveries faster and cleaner while reducing emissions and offering an alternative to conventional fuel-based dispatch services.

Health-tech startup, SnooCODERED, founded by Dr Nana Serwaa Quao, delivers emergency logistics software to improve healthcare in hard-to-reach areas. Its solution is designed to help get critical medical supplies and support to underserved communities more quickly and efficiently.
All three Ghanaian startups will participate in the Commonwealth Startup Fellowship (CSF), which empowers early-stage entrepreneurs from across the Commonwealth to address development challenges through innovation and enterprise.
They will begin their journey with a bootcamp in Accra from 17–28 November, hosted at Affinity Africa, founded by Imperial College London alumnus Tarek Mouganie. Two of the Fellows from Ghana are being funded by Imperial Global Ghana, Imperial’s African hub based in Accra.

This year’s cohort includes 23 Fellows drawn from low- and middle-income Commonwealth countries including Bangladesh, Botswana, Ghana, India, Jamaica, Kenya, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Tanzania and Uganda. Over six months, the founders will take part in workshops, mentorship and coaching to kick-start their business development journey, culminating in an investor showcase in London in May 2026.
The Fellowship, a flagship programme of the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) funded by the UK government and delivered in partnership with Imperial College London, is designed to help high-potential startups like PureLube, ShaQ Express, and SnooCODERED build thriving businesses, scale their operations and drive job creation in their home countries.
Associate Director of Imperial Global Ghana, Clare Turner, noted that the three Ghanaian entrepreneurs are tackling real-world challenges with bold, locally driven innovation, and that connecting them to Imperial’s global networks will help unlock new opportunities for growth and impact across West Africa.
Professor Robin Mason, Chair of the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission, said the Commission looks forward to seeing the Fellows flourish over the next six months and contribute to the Commonwealth’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, noting that the programme is showing what is possible when higher education, industry and decision makers work together with a shared vision for a better world.
