Provident Insurance partners with KBTH to champion Prostate Cancer Awareness Month

Provident Insurance Limited has partnered with the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and the Ghana Association of Urological Surgeons to mark September Prostate Cancer Awareness Month under the theme: “Early Detection Saves Lives.”

The partnership seeks to raise nationwide awareness about prostate cancer and encourage men to undergo regular screenings.

Prostate cancer remains one of the leading health concerns for men in Ghana, and early detection is proven to significantly improve treatment outcomes and survival rates.

Speaking at the launch, the Managing Director of Provident Insurance, Ken Doh, emphasised the company’s commitment to safeguarding not just lives and businesses through insurance, but also the health and well-being of the communities it serves.

“At Provident, we believe true protection goes beyond insuring property—it is about protecting people and families. That is why this partnership is deeply meaningful to us.

Just as insurance provides peace of mind, early detection provides men with the best chance to fight, survive, and thrive,” he said.

He further noted that over the past few years, Provident Insurance has consistently supported breast cancer and childhood cancer initiatives, alongside other CSR activities.

This year’s prostate cancer awareness partnership reinforces the company’s commitment to public health and community resilience.

“It is our modest way of giving back to society while also helping to disseminate vital information and create awareness—something we consider critically important.”

Adding his voice, Professor J.E. Mensah, Acting Director of the Urology and Nephrology Centre of Excellence, commended Provident Insurance and emphasised the importance of awareness.

“Prostate cancer is a silent but serious threat to men’s health in Ghana. Far too many men report to the hospital when the disease is already advanced. With strong partnerships like this, we can break the silence, educate men to seek help early, and ultimately save lives,” said Prof. Mensah.

For over 43 years, Provident Insurance has actively supported health-related Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, including breast cancer and childhood cancer campaigns.

This year’s prostate cancer awareness partnership further strengthens its dedication to promoting public health and community resilience.

The program will include educational campaigns and advocacy drives aimed at breaking the stigma around prostate health and encouraging open conversations among men, families, and communities.

Provident Insurance calls on all men to take advantage of these awareness activities, prioritise their health, and get screened.

The company is also urging corporate Ghana to stand in solidarity by supporting prostate cancer awareness initiatives that save lives and protect families.

Provident Insurance is a proud Ghanaian non-life insurance company established 43 years ago, specialising in property and casualty insurance.

The company provides tailored insurance solutions for individuals, SMEs, and large corporations, underpinned by a legacy of trust, rapid claims settlement, and customer-centric service.
