Private sector innovation takes spotlight at 2025 Africa Best Business Awards

The 2025 edition of the Africa Best Business Awards (ABBA) celebrated over 30 top-performing companies and entrepreneurs across the continent, reaffirming the private sector’s central role in Africa’s economic transformation.

Held at an exclusive executive dinner in Accra under the theme “Honouring Business Brilliance, Shaping Africa’s Future,” the awards recognised firms that demonstrated excellence in innovation, sustainability, and cross-border impact.

Organised by Delve Afrique Communications and Maven Communications, with support from Zeliatte Media, the event highlighted companies that have shown resilience, creativity, and consistent growth.

According to Maven Communications Director, Seth Jojo Danso Asante, the awards board comprising experts from business, academia, and governmentevaluated firms based on longevity, quality, and global competitiveness.

The awards covered sectors spanning finance, manufacturing, energy, media, and agriculture. Leading brands such as The Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Zoomlion Ghana, LetshegoGhana, and McDan Aviation Ghana were among the 2025 honorees.

Coca-Cola Ghana received three recognitions—Beverage Industry Icon Award (West Africa), Visionary Multinational Business Leader Award for Mr. Felix Gomis, and Excellence in Brand Loyalty and Consumer Trust Award—cementing its longstanding reputation for consistent brand performance and consumer engagement.

Zoomlion Ghana Limited was honoured for Best in Waste Management Services, underscoring its role in urban sanitation and environmental sustainability. Enterprise MEP Engineering Limited also emerged as Best Company of the Year (Integrated Engineering Services) for its contribution to infrastructure development.

Softcare FM Manufacturing Limited secured three accolades, including Best FMCG Manufacturing Company of the Year (Homecare Products), Most Innovative Manufacturing Company, and Outstanding Company in National Economic Development.

Nzema Manle Rural Bank PLC won Rural Bank of the Year for promoting financial inclusion in rural communities. Letshego Ghana Savings and Loans PLC took home Best Savings and Loans Institution of the Year and Most Innovative Financial Service Provider of the Year, reflecting the growing competition and innovation within Ghana’s non-bank financial sector.

Happy Sunshine Company Limited won the best product discovery of the year ( Lavonce Pepper Powder) as well as the manufacturing company of the year (Tomato Paste). Genau Ghana Limited was awarded the best business support company of the year (cash handling equipment supply)

In the technology and media category, AfricaWeb (operators of GhanaWeb) earned the Best Media Company of the Year (Digital, Online), recognizing its impact in shaping digital journalism and online information access.

Innovation and Green Impact

Environmental and green innovation received notable attention this year. Dredge Master Limited was awarded Best Company of the Year (Green Marine Solutions), while Universal Plastic Products and Recycling Limited received dual honours for Best Company in Sustainable Recycling and Plastics Production and the Green Innovation Award.

Adama West Africa Limited was named Agriculture Inputs Company of the Year (Crop Production Solutions), while Kuipers Breeders Ghana was recognised as Best Agri Company of the Year (Poultry Breeding). These recognitions underscore the increasing focus on sustainability and value addition in Ghana’s agribusiness space.

Indigenous and Emerging Enterprises

McDan Aviation Ghana Limited was named Indigenous Company of the Year (Aviation Services), reflecting the firm’s continued expansion in logistics and air services. Ransboat & Company Limited took the Indigenous Agri Company of the Year title, while its CEO, Ransford Kwaku Otopa Atiemo, received CEO of the Year (Agribusiness).

Emerging firms were also acknowledged. White Sand Travel Consult won Best Emerging Travel and Tour Company of the Year, with its CEO, Mark Hayford, recognized as Young Business Personality of the Year. Grace Mobility Ghana was named Best Company of the Year (Electric Car Dealership), signalling a growing shift toward electric vehicle adoption in Ghana.

Top-Up Pharmacy, a prominent local health brand, received Best Pharmacy Brand of the Year, while its CEO, Dr. Richard Odor, was named CEO of the Year (Pharmaceutical), highlighting the sector’s role in enhancing health access and domestic pharmaceutical production.

Other winners included Samartex Timber & Plywood Company Limited (Best Export Company of the Year – Timber Products and Wooden Crafts), Skones Security Limited (Best Company in Security Services Innovation), Polytank Ghana Limited (Best Manufacturing Company of the Year – Plastics), and Weir Minerals West Africa (Company of the Year – Mining Equipment and Solutions).

ABBA’s mission, organisers said, goes beyond recognition.

“This platform is about building a stronger African business community that collaborates to scale innovation,” Danso noted.

By spotlighting excellence across sectors, the 2025 ABBA underscored how innovation-driven enterprises are shaping Africa’s next phase of sustainable growth.
