The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education (PRINCOF) has announced a revision to the academic calendar for all Colleges of Education nationwide, bringing the Christmas break forward by eight days.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, December 10, PRINCOF directed that Colleges of Education will now proceed on the Christmas break from Friday, December 12, as opposed to the initially scheduled December 20. Schools are expected to reopen on Monday, January 19.
According to the NEC, the adjustment has become necessary to facilitate the completion of the admissions process for 2025 WASSCE applicants who are awaiting their results, as well as to provide adequate time for newly admitted students to report to their respective colleges.

The statement further instructed Principals to ensure proper institutional arrangements during the period of closure.
“In view of the above, all Principals are respectfully requested to take the necessary steps to close their institutions on the indicated date and ensure that appropriate internal arrangements are made for security, essential services, and ongoing administrative activities during the break,” PRINCOF stated.
The Committee expressed confidence in the cooperation of Principals across the country, noting that the temporary adjustment is aimed at ensuring a smooth and orderly start to the 2025/2026 academic year.
