Bryan Acheampong, a candidate for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primary, has rejected recent polls that place him at just 1% support among delegates, describing them as “sponsored” and “meaningless.”
Speaking at his campaign office on Wednesday, October 15, Dr Acheampong insisted that the only poll that truly matters will be the party’s presidential primary scheduled for January 31, 2026.
“I mean, I’ve seen some polls that put me at 1% and some aspirants who have not even left their bedrooms at 20%, and it’s quite interesting,” he said.
“So please, I’m not concerned about that at all. The day of the election, January 31st, we will see what the real polls look like.”
He explained that several people have approached his campaign with offers to manipulate public perception through online polls in exchange for money, but he has refused to engage in such tactics.
“Many people come with the proposal that, ‘Oh, you are winning, you are at 90%, you are at 70%, give us money so that we can go and put it in the papers, put it on online posts.’ I’m not interested in any of that,” he stated.
Dr Acheampong emphasised that his campaign is focused on winning the trust of delegates in the constituencies rather than investing in media polls.
His remarks come as the NPP gears up for its presidential primary in January 2026 to elect a flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.
The race has already sparked intense political activity, with candidates seeking to build momentum and shape public perception ahead of the crucial vote.
