Police nab 2 with suspected Indian hemp

The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in possession of substances to be Indian hemp at Gomoa Nyanyano in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.

The suspects, Eric Nkyeke (30) and Francis Klu (28), were taken into custody at about 7:40 a.m. on Monday, August 11, 2025, while allegedly offloading 519 compressed parcels of the substance from a Toyota Hilux pick-up truck with registration number GS-6849-21.

According to police, the Nyanyano District Patrol Team made the seizure during a routine operation. The suspected drugs have been secured, and the vehicle impounded as part of ongoing investigations.

In a press statement signed by DSP Victor Kofi Dosoo, Head of Public Affairs, the command commended the professionalism of the arresting officers.

“The Regional Police Command appreciates the arresting officers and reaffirms its commitment to fighting drug-related crimes and ensuring the safety of our communities,” the statement said.

The Command also issued a warning to those involved in such illegal activities.

“We warn all individuals involved in such crimes to desist or face the full rigours of the law if arrested,” the statement added.

The Command further urged the public to assist the police in the fight against illegal drugs.

“We urge members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to drugs or crime to the police,” the statement concluded.
