A businessman and philanthropist, John Kwakuvi Hounlessodji, popularly known as Infinity has officially declared his intention to contest the Ketu North Constituency seat on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 general elections.

In his message to constituents, the decision to contest the parliamentary seat stemmed from calls he received from the rank and file of the party after posters of him contesting for the position surfaced on social media.

According to him, the grassroots supporters behind the designing and circulation of the posters on social media consider him the most suitable candidate to snatch the seat from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who have held onto the seat since 1992.

In accepting calls to lead the party in the 2024 general elections, Mr Hounlessodji indicated that he has lived in the constituency for his entire life and as such, has a good understanding of the socio-economic issues in the area, which include high unemployment rates, inadequate road infrastructure, poor educational facilities, and a lack of clean drinking water, among others.

He also stressed the importance of making the constituency a business hub through the creation of the ECOWAS market, which has been on the drawing board for years since the construction of the Akanu-Noepe Joint Border to reflect the regionalisation drive of the African Free Continental Trade Agreement (AfTA).

The Ketu North aspirant urged all delegates within the party to give him the nod to change the political discourse of the area, which has been in the hands of the NDC for over 20 years.

Meanwhile, there was wild jubilation in the constituency following the circulation of his confirmation of his intent to contest on the ticket of the NPP since, according to the majority, he (Infinity) has what it takes to wrestle power from the NDC.
