Parliament will resume sittings today, Tuesday, October, 21 2025, for the Third Meeting of the First Session of the Ninth Parliament.
This session, the final for the legislative year, is expected to be a busy one, with the presentation of the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy by the Minister for Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, anticipated in mid-November.
Two newly elected Members of Parliament from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Bediako Baidoo for Akwatia and Professor Alidu Seidu for Tamale Central, are to be officially sworn in during the meeting.
The Appointments Committee is also scheduled to conduct the vetting of Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, who has been nominated for the position of Chief Justice.
As part of renewed efforts to combat illegal mining, government is expected to lay before the House a legislative instrument seeking to repeal L.I. 2462, which currently grants the President the authority to permit mining within forest reserves.
Members will also deliberate on several critical national matters, including bills, motions, and policy statements from various ministries and government agencies.
