Parliament has expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of senior state officials, including ministers and a Member of Parliament, who were killed in Wednesday’s military helicopter crash in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.
In a statement signed by David Sebastian Damoah, Director of Media Relations, Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin and the leadership of the House said they received confirmation of the “tragic passing” with profound sadness.

“Parliament is deeply saddened by this news, and would want to, at this time, express its deepest condolences to the bereaved families and indeed the entire Republic,” the statement read.
The deceased officials include Defence Minister Edward Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, and MP Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, among others.

The officials were aboard a Ghana Armed Forces Z-9 helicopter en route to Obuasi when the aircraft went off radar and crashed.
“May the souls of our departed colleagues who have died in the service of our Republic rest in peace,” Parliament’s statement concluded.
