Parliament, in partnership with Transparency International (TI) Ghana, has organised an orientation workshop aimed at enhancing the capacity of Members of Parliament (MPs) within the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Caucus.
The session focused on advancing the principles of open governance and Beneficial Ownership Transparency (BOT) as part of ongoing efforts to deepen democratic accountability.

The workshop provided a comprehensive overview of both the global and national frameworks of the OGP initiative, with particular attention paid to Ghana’s 5th OGP National Action Plan (2023–2027).
MPs received updates on the status of BOT implementation in the country, with a strong emphasis on the critical role Parliament plays in facilitating reform.
Ghana has been a member of the Open Government Partnership since 2011 and continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to enhancing transparency, citizen participation, and anti-corruption measures across public institutions.

A key highlight of the orientation was the country’s renewed drive to implement BOT reforms, aimed at curbing illicit financial flows, tax evasion, and corruption, particularly through greater openness in public procurement and contracting.
The initiative forms part of Parliament’s wider strategy to reinforce democratic governance, foster inclusive policy formulation, and deliver tangible outcomes that serve the public interest.

MPs were urged to leverage their legislative and oversight functions to support the full implementation of the National Action Plan.
At the close of the workshop, members of the OGP Caucus reaffirmed their commitment to championing transparency reforms and ensuring Parliament remains a central actor in promoting open government in Ghana.
