The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) has officially launched the National Youth Festival 2025 (NNYF2025) at a well-attended media event held today in Accra.
The launch brought together a vibrant mix of student leaders, partner organizations, and media representatives, setting the tone for what promises to be the most inclusive youth-centered festival in Ghana’s history.
The event saw participation from three key groups: student leaders from various tertiary institutions across the country, representatives of partner institutions, and members of the media.
Key government agencies present included the Student Loan Trust Fund (SLTF), represented by Deputy CEO – Mr. Kojo Danquah; the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), represented by Director for Ports – Dr. Patrick Essien; and the National Youth Authority (NYA), led by its CEO, Hon. Osman Ayariga, who served as Special Guest of Honour and officially launched the festival.

In his address, NUGS President Daniel Korley Botchway outlined the various components of NNYF2025, noting that the festival includes events and competitions designed for students from the basic level to the tertiary level.

He emphasized that NUGS is not only focused on education but is equally committed to entrepreneurship, skills development, climate action, and sports reflecting a comprehensive approach to youth development.
The President also unveiled a list of exciting event areas under the festival, including:
Paint the Future – a nationwide basic school beautification and learning aid project.
A Tree for Every Student – an environmental sustainability campaign led by students.
Career and Education Fairs – regional and national career guidance sessions for students
NUGS Sports Fiesta – inter-school sports competitions across various disciplines
NUGS Literafest – a literacy and creative writing challenge for basic school students
National Students Business Challenge – fostering entrepreneurship among young people
Climate Action Campaign – promoting green practices and awareness in schools and communities
Innovation and Tech Expo – showcasing student-led innovation and digital solutions
Global Youth Dialogue – forums for civic education, diplomacy, and international engagement
The Regional Celebrations of NNYF2025 will take place across all 16 Regions from June 1 through to July 27, 2025, while the National Convocation will be held in Accra from 28th July to 3rd August 2025.
In total, the festival will span all 16 regions, involve activities across 98 campuses, and feature over 218 distinct events nationwide—demonstrating the scale and ambition of this historic celebration of Ghanaian youth.

“NUGS has evolved into a full-spectrum youth development organization,” President Botchway stated. “The National Youth Festival 2025 will be a celebration of talent, innovation, civic consciousness, and national pride, bringing together young people from across Ghana and beyond.”
With the successful launch of NNYF2025, NUGS signals a renewed commitment to youth empowerment, cross-sector collaboration, and national development through the active participation of young people.
