The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) held its 57th delegate Congress elections at the Islamic University in Accra. The electoral commission assured that all necessary measures were implemented to ensure a smooth and successful election process, including enhanced security arrangements. Students were required to present both their student ID and national ID before being allowed to vote, as part of the verification process.
Outgoing NUGS President, Daniel Oppong Kyeremeh, acknowledged that all the presidential candidates contesting in the elections were qualified to lead, with many of them having served under his administration. Reflecting on his tenure, Kyeremeh highlighted key achievements, including securing land for agricultural activities, aimed at generating income for the Congress.
He addressed recent rumors, encouraging students and the public to disregard claims that he intended to hold onto power, asserting that such rumors were unfounded. Mr. Kyeremeh also urged students to support and rally behind whichever candidate emerges victorious, emphasizing the importance of unity within the student body.
