NSMQ 2025: Mfantsipim School inch closer to back-to-back glory after dominant semifinal win over GSTS and Mankranso SHS

Defending champions, Mfantsipim School, have powered their way into the grand finale of the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) after a commanding performance in the semifinals, defeating Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS) and Mankranso SHS in a contest filled with tension, skill, and suspense.

The BOTWE Boys, as they are affectionately called, demonstrated class, composure, and teamwork throughout the competition, sealing their place in the final with an emphatic 42 points.

GSTS followed with 23 points, while Mankranso SHS finished with 15 points.

From the first bell, Mfantsipim made their intentions clear. They wasted no time asserting dominance, finishing the opening round with 17 points, comfortably ahead of GSTS with 7 points and Mankranso SHS with 6 points.

The early momentum signaled that the defending champions had come prepared to defend their crown.

The second round was where Mfantsipim began to pull away. Their quick recall, precision, and seamless teamwork shone through as they extended their lead to 18 points, with GSTS trailing at 12 and Mankranso managing only 5.

The BOTWE Boys’ consistency and accuracy left the audience in awe as they dominated question after question.

The Problem of the Day, a round notorious for shaking up competitions, proved tricky for all three schools. Both Mfantsipim and GSTS managed 1 out of 10, while Mankranso SHS failed to score.

In the fourth round, Mfantsipim continued their steady run, combining strategy and speed to raise their tally to 32 points, while GSTS stayed at 20 points and Mankranso remained at 15 points.

Every answer from the BOTWE camp drew cheers from their supporters, who could sense victory drawing near.

The final round brought the energy in the hall to its peak. With their eyes firmly on a back-to-back championship dream, Mfantsipim finished strong, ending the contest at 42 points, far ahead of GSTS’s 23 points and Mankranso’s 15 points.

Their victory was met with thunderous applause as they marched proudly into the grand finale.

The win marks another milestone in Mfantsipim’s rich NSMQ legacy and places them just one step away from retaining the trophy.

As the BOTWE Boys prepare for the ultimate showdown, one thing is certain, they are not ready to give up their title without a fierce fight.
