NSMQ 2025: Adisadel College crushes Yaa Asantewaa Girls', Assin State to secure 1/8th spot

The atmosphere inside the SGS Auditorium in Cape Coast was nothing short of electric as Adisadel College staged a thrilling comeback to outscore Yaa Asantewaa Girls’ SHS and Assin State College, booking their place in the one-eighth stage of the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ).

From the first round, it was clear that this would be no easy win. The crowd split between Santaclausians in their famous black and white stripes, Yaa Asantewaa’s fierce supporters, and the determined fans of Assin State filled the hall with chants and cheers.

The contest began on a tight note, with Adisadel College scoring 25 points, while Yaa Asantewaa Girls and Assin State College both trailed closely with 21 points each. Every correct answer from Adisadel drew loud applause and chants of “SANTACLAUSIAN!” from the stands.

While the Yaa Asantewaa and Assin State supporters also cheered wildly for their teams.

By Round Two, the pressure intensified. The stripes maintained their lead with 32 points, but Yaa Asantewaa Girls kept the tension alive with 25 points, refusing to back down. Assin State followed with 20 points, as their supporters urged them to fight on.

Then came Round Three, “the Problem of the Day.” The entire hall fell silent as the three schools wrestled with the equations. Adisadel secured 6 out of 10 points, while Yaa Asantewaa Girls managed 1, and Assin State managed 3.

But the real drama came in Round Four. The scores were tight, and Yaa Asantewaa’s Girls made a bold push, solving a streak of questions that reignited the crowd’s energy. Still, Adisadel refused to blink, stretching their lead to 51 points, followed by Yaa Asantewaa with 42 and Assin State with 30.

By the final round, it was a battle of endurance. As the quizmistress read the last riddle, the entire hall was split between cheers. Adisadel College – 57 points, Yaa Asantewaa Girls – 42, Assin State – 30.

The Adisadel fans erupted in full cheers and applause, their “SANTACLAUSIAN!” chants. With this victory, Adisadel College advanced to the one-eighth stage.
