NSA raises alarm over rejection of National Service Personnel by user agencies

The Management of the National Service Authority (NSA) has expressed concern over the increasing rejection of newly deployed National Service Personnel (NSP) by some user agencies.

The NSA warned that the practice threatens the smooth administration of the 2025/2026 service year.

In a press release issued on Wednesday, December 17, the Authority revealed that it has recorded a growing number of cases in which organisations have refused to accept personnel officially posted to them.

According to the NSA, this development has triggered a significant rise in reposting requests, placing strain on administrative systems, especially as the deadline for the ongoing Regional Validation Exercise rapidly approaches.

“The Authority has observed with concern an increasing number of cases where deployed personnel are rejected by some user agencies,” Management stated.

“This situation has resulted in a significant rise in reposting requests, which adversely affects the smooth administration of the service year.”

The NSA has therefore issued a reminder to all user agencies, stressing that organisations that are unable to accommodate personnel assigned to them must communicate this decision officially and without delay.

“Where personnel have been deployed to an organisation and the organisation is, for any reason, unable to accommodate the personnel, the agency is required to officially communicate same to the personnel without delay,” the statement said.

Management explained that once formally informed, the affected personnel are expected to notify the Authority immediately to allow for prompt redeployment before the stipulated deadline for the Regional Validation Exercise.

“The personnel will then inform the Authority to enable necessary steps to redeploy him or her before the deadline,” the NSA noted.

The Authority further appealed to user agencies to support the national service programme by adhering strictly to established deployment procedures.

It stressed that cooperation from all stakeholders remains vital to ensuring transparency, orderliness and efficiency throughout the service year.

“The Authority counts on the continued cooperation of all user agencies to ensure an efficient, orderly and transparent deployment and validation process for the 2025/2026 service year,” Management added.
